An established specialist metalwork fabrication contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to join its growing Sales and Estimating team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-value architectural and miscellaneous metalwork projects for leading construction contractors across the UK and Ireland.
The successful candidate will have experience estimating architectural metalwork and fabricated steel packages, including stairs, handrails, balustrades, access platforms, walkways, and other fabricated components. You will work closely with design, commercial, and operational teams to prepare accurate and competitive tenders while helping secure profitable contracts.
Key Responsibilities
Analyse tender documentation, specifications, drawings, and project requirements.
Produce accurate take-offs and detailed cost estimates from architectural and engineering drawings.
Liaise with Design, Commercial, and Operations teams throughout the tender process.
Support business development activities by following up on tender submissions and client enquiries.
Attend tender review meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Candidate Requirements
To be considered, applicants should have:
A minimum of 5 years' experience in an Estimator role within architectural metalwork, miscellaneous metalwork, steel fabrication, or a closely related sector.
Proven experience costing packages such as stairs, handrails, balustrades, structural steelwork, and fabricated metal components.
A third-level qualification (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
The ability to interpret complex construction and engineering documentation.
Knowledge of modern fabrication processes, workshop practices, and site installation methods.
Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
Skilled Worker Visa Sponsorship Requirements
This role is open to candidates requiring a UK Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.
Applicants must:
Have a good standard of English communication.
Hold a valid UKVI IELTS certificate with a minimum score of 5.5 in Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening, or
Be willing and able to achieve a minimum UKVI IELTS score of 5.5 in all four components before visa processing can commence.
