Our client is looking for a skilled Vehicle Spray Painter to join their bodyshop team. This role involves preparing, painting, and refinishing vehicles — applying primers, basecoats, topcoats — and ensuring a high-quality finish, colour match, and a presentation standard that meets manufacturer or client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting: sanding, masking, priming, filling, and ensuring surfaces are clean, smooth and ready for paint.
- Mix paint to match manufacturer colour codes and specifications; use spray-guns and painting systems (booth work) to apply primer, basecoat and final coats.
- Perform finishing operations: polishing, buffing, quality checks, and final inspections to ensure paintwork is smooth, even, and meets quality standards.
- Operate and maintain paint shop equipment (spray booths, spray guns, mixers), ensuring all tools and work environments meet health & safety regulations.
- Work collaboratively with panel beaters/body technicians to coordinate repair and paint schedules, ensuring timely completion of vehicle repair & refinishing jobs.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Spray Painter / Vehicle Painter / Paint Technician within a bodyshop or accident repair environment.
- Good knowledge of paint types, refinishing products, paint mixing, colour matching and vehicle paint techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality work consistently.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, as part of a team, and handle a varied workload under time constraints.
- Awareness of health & safety practices and safe handling of paint materials and equipment.
Desirable Qualifications / Attributes
- Previous experience across a range of vehicle makes/models (cars, vans, possibly light commercial vehicles) to handle diverse workloads.
Essential Language / Immigration Requirement
- Must already hold — or be willing to obtain — a UKVI-recognised IELTS certificate (or equivalent proof of English language proficiency acceptable for UK work eligibility).
